March Madness

I am still pregnant and moving at a glacial pace, but I did manage to finish my March goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes. Hooray!

Here is my Swoon block in all of its Tula Pink glory. I really like how it came together.

All finished

Dowel and pocket hanger

My favorite detail. See them scurry?

I also whipped out a few self binding receiving blankets. I found the tutorial on YouTube. The lovely Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company provided the tutorial. Good stuff.

For next Friday's finish, I would really like to be posting a picture of a new baby. Fingers crossed.

Dog Days

I special four-legged baby had a birthday this past week and her Mommy is a good friend that just happened to get a new car recently. I thought a back seat cover would be a perfect gift and this is what I came up with...

I used this as an opportunity to try a few things out. I pieced the batting and the backing, both of which I had never done. It was really good practice. I certainly learned a few things. I was also so happy to use up scraps. The batting, binding, and backing are all scraps. That makes me feel so accomplished. I hate wasting even the smallest of leftovers because, as you all know, this addiction hobby can be quite expensive.

I have an exciting evening planned, I am going to try to start quilting my Swoon block wall hanging.

Happy Friday!

Chugging along

I have actually had a fairly productive week. I finished this top...

It is a gift, so I will save the details until it is completed and gifted.

I finished piecing the top on my Swoon block...

I love this color combo. This will ultimately be a wall hanging. I am excited to get it quilted.

I also whipped up this little sprocket pillow for the guest bedroom...

Isn't it so cute? I just love it. I think I love it even more because I was able to work in a scrap piece of that sheet set I bought to back my squirrel project. Using every bit I tell you! I used this tutorial Allison, over at Cluck Cluck Sew, gave the Internet. So thankful for generous, talented people willing to put their hard work out there for free.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Linking up to Crazy Mom Quilts.

Swooning!

I am finally getting around to posting my March goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes. This one needs to be short and sweet. After cramming a big project into the shortest month (and finishing!), I need a lighter, less stressful, load this month.

So, my goal? I will be making a wall hanging out of one Swoon block. These blocks finish at 24 inches square, so it will be perfect for the space I am making it for in the baby's room. I haven't accomplished anything past purchasing the pattern and picking out the fabric.
